This yearlong course focuses on the significant influence of the family in early childhood learning and development and evidence-based strategies for creating and sustaining effective family-professional partnerships to optimize family and child outcomes in classroom, home, and community settings. The developmental process of parenting, family capacity-building approaches, and convergence of family and professional expertise to promote child learning and development will be examined across diverse cultures, languages, abilities, settings, and urban contexts.This Key Course requires a grade of B or better to pass. Any student who receives a grade of F or WU in this class will not be permitted to continue in the program. This course may be repeated only once.
