Description
On-the-job supervised year-long classroom practicum on providing specially designed instruction in a special education teacher position/role for students grades 7-12 with learning disabilities, behavior disorders and/or mild moderate mental retardation. Entails supervisory observations by Hunter College faculty, with feedback conferencesand individually tailored follow-up assignments for improving instructional planning, teaching, assessment, andstudent interactions. The 30-hour seminar, focuses on effective instructional and behavioral strategies for the firstyear of teaching, including meeting the needs of students with severe/multiple disabilities (requires successfulcompletion of online workshop related to students with severe/multiple disabilities).This Key Course requires a grade of B or better to pass. Any student who receives a grade of F or WU in this class will not be permitted to continue in the program. This course may be repeated only once.
